This editorial design project challenged me to create two magazine covers from scratch using the same photograph while creating two distinct publications for different audiences. This included selecting the image, developing the magazine titles, writing all cover headlines and feature topics, and designing the layouts using principles of editorial design, typography, and visual hierarchy.
The first cover, Women's Wellness, was designed to convey a serious, educational message centered on the health risks of nicotine addiction and teenage vaping. The use of a monochromatic image, bold typography, and selective color accents creates a strong visual hierarchy that draws attention to the magazine's most important stories.
In contrast, Light Up was designed as a lifestyle-focused publication with a more relaxed and entertainment-driven tone. Using the same full-color photograph, the cover features headlines about vaping trends, industry news, product rankings, and seasonal content. The vibrant color palette and energetic layout create an engaging design that appeals to a different target audience.
